Counselling Fees & Booking
Littlehampton & Online
Booking counselling should feel straightforward. Whether you're looking for grief counselling, support through a life transition, or psychotherapy for longer-term emotional wellbeing, in-person sessions take place in my therapy cabin in Littlehampton (West Sussex), so clients in the surrounding area can attend locally, while online therapy removes geographic constraints for those further afield.
Taking the First Step
Support starts with a conversation.
Reaching out for counselling can feel like the hardest part,
so I've made the booking process as simple and straightforward as possible.
You can book a free 15-minute telephone consultation online at a time that suits you,
with instant access to my real-time availability. Whether you're looking for in-person
counselling in Littlehampton or online counselling across the UK, you'll receive appointment
confirmations, payment details, reminders, and (where needed) online session
links automatically, making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
If online booking isn't your thing, that's absolutely fine too.
You're welcome to get in touch and I'll be happy to help you find an appointment that works for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
About Booking Counselling
Starting counselling often comes with lots of questions. Below are answers to some of the questions I'm most commonly asked about booking, fees, and what to expect from counselling.
How much does counselling cost?
My standard counselling fee is £50 for a 50-minute session.
A limited number of evening appointments are available at a slightly higher rate. I also offer a small number of reduced-fee concessionary spaces, subject to availability. Please get in touch if you'd like to discuss whether a concessionary space may be suitable for you. Payment is requested in advance to confirm your session.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, and decide whether I'm the right therapist for you. Read "What Happens During a Free Counselling Consultation?" if you're wondering what this is like.
How do I book my first appointment?
You can book your first appointment online using my booking system, or get in touch by email, phone, or text if you'd prefer to arrange a time together. If you're unsure whether counselling is right for you, you're very welcome to book a free 15-minute telephone consultation first.
Online counselling sessions are booked through my online booking system (Setmore), allowing you to view my real-time availability. To help ensure there is enough time for preparation and administration, online appointments can be booked up to 48 hours before the session. If you need an appointment sooner, please contact me directly and I'll do my best to help.
Where do sessions take place?
I offer:
-
In-person counselling from my private therapy cabin near Littlehampton.
-
Online counselling across the UK.
-
Walk and Talk Therapy (where appropriate).
How long is each session?
Counselling sessions last 50 minutes.
Why are counselling sessions 50 minutes rather than an hour?
Counselling appointments are often referred to as a therapeutic hour, which is typically 50 minutes rather than a full 60 minutes. The remaining time allows your therapist to make confidential clinical notes, reflect on the session, prepare for the next client, and ensure each appointment starts and finishes on time. This helps maintain professional standards while giving every client the time and attention they deserve. Your dedicated counselling time is the full 50 minutes, allowing us to work together without feeling rushed.
How many sessions will I need?
There isn't a set number. Some people come for short-term support around a particular issue, while others choose longer-term psychotherapy. We'll regularly review how things are going and decide together what feels most helpful.
Do I have to commit to a certain number of sessions?
No. You're never tied into a fixed package. Although I often recommend starting with at least six sessions for counselling (or twelve for psychotherapy), we'll review together and decide what feels right for you.
What happens in my first counselling session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, explore what has brought you to counselling, and begin thinking about your goals. We'll also discuss the Counselling Agreement and answer any questions you may have. Read "Your First Counselling Session: What to Expect" for some helpful insights.
What is the Counselling Agreement?
Before we begin working together, you'll be asked to read and sign a Counselling Agreement. This explains confidentiality, payments, cancellations, and how we'll work together, helping to create a clear and safe foundation for therapy.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, I ask for 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less notice may be charged in full, except in exceptional circumstances. (Please see below.)
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed in counselling is confidential, with a small number of legal and ethical exceptions. These will be fully explained in the Counselling Agreement before we begin working together.
Can I book online?
Yes. You can view my availability and book appointments online at a time that suits you.
Do you offer evening appointments?
Yes, I offer a limited number of evening appointments, subject to availability.
Is there parking?
Yes. Free parking is available close to my therapy cabin.
Can I choose online or in-person counselling?
Yes. You're welcome to choose the format that works best for you, and we can discuss this during your free consultation. You can also read about my approach and how we can work together in my blog.

Booking Policy
Free Consultation
I offer a free initial consultation to help us decide whether working together feels like the right fit. This session is not subject to the same terms as ongoing therapy.
If you are unable to attend, I would appreciate as much notice as possible.
Booking Ongoing Therapy Sessions
When booking my services, your appointment time is reserved especially for you. Holding this space consistently is an important part of creating a safe, reliable therapeutic relationship, and forms part of our counselling agreement when we begin working together.
1. Payment
Sessions are payable in advance for all online work and for new clients. This can be reviewed over time, and we may agree alternative arrangements once our work together is established.
2. Cancellations
When you start counselling, a commitment is established for us both. As the time you book is reserved for you, I require a minimum of 48hrs notice if you need to cancel. This is because it is usually not possible to offer the appointment to another client at short notice.
2.1 Late cancellations and missed sessions
-
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at the full session fee.
-
Missed appointments (non-attendance without notice) are also charged in full.
Sessions are expected to begin at the agreed time. If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time and the full fee will apply.
-
If you are running late or experiencing delays, please let me know as soon as you can. If I have not heard from you within 15 minutes of the agreed start time, the session will be considered a late cancellation.
-
For online sessions, if I experience technical difficulties or am running late, I will contact you as soon as possible via your preferred method (text, email, or phone) so we can agree on an alternative arrangement.
2.2 Lateness and technical difficulties
If I need to cancel a session, you will not be charged. I will aim to offer an alternative appointment as soon as possible.
2.3 Therapist Cancellations
3. Exceptional Circumstances
I understand that unexpected situations can arise. In exceptional circumstances, such as sudden illness or emergencies, I may use discretion in applying this policy. However, where cancellations or missed sessions become repeated, I may not be able to continue offering this flexibility, and the full session fee will be charged in line with the policy above.
4. The Counselling Agreement
Before we begin working together, you'll be asked to read and sign a Counselling Agreement. This outlines how we will work together and includes important information about confidentiality, session fees and payments, cancellations, boundaries, record keeping, data protection, and what you can expect from counselling.
The agreement helps ensure that we both have a clear understanding of our shared responsibilities, creating a safe, transparent and professional foundation for our work together. You're welcome to ask questions about any part of the agreement before signing, and we'll take time to discuss anything you're unsure about.
